I finally took the plunge and bought an Elecraft K2 at the Dayton Hamfest.:

Ahh. The finished product. I used to own a K2 but sold it. I wanted to build my own (the previous one was built already.)

The adding of the serial number!

Serial number added. This is K2 number 3475.

First QSO was with HI9/K8WK with 1 watt!! (The Hexbeam helped my 1 watt sound more like 2 HIHI)
